A
narrow long strip of land on the Northern border of the Comanche
Rock Ranch adjoins the Southern border of the 1600 acres of
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. This hunting area is along
a wooded river bottom adjacent to the park and is very scenic.
The park is rarely hunted and deer and exotics move out of
the park acreage to feed at our year around supplemental food
sources. The numbers of native Whitetail deer moving through
this area are quite large and provide good shooting opportunities.
This is ideal situation for the hunter desiring to see a lot
of animals and among these there are a number of ‘trophy
deer’. If your goal is to “take home the bacon”
and fill the freezer this is the place where you have a good
chance of doing it. In addition, there may also be an opportunity
to take an Axis or Aoudad Sheep as they cross out of the park
to feed at the ranch. A Turkey roost is located in this area.
