The entrance to Comanche Rock Ranch -- a land of enchantment, relaxation, and the opportunity to appreciate nature's bounty.

This sculpture salutes our cattle ranching ancestry, however, the ranch is managed without cattle so that the visual impact of the wildlife is undiluted by domestic livestock.

The path entry to our Guest Lodge winds beneath our Antler Arch. These antlers were found by guest, family, and staff and represent a visual history of our game management program, which Jason oversees.

Comanche Rock Ranch Lodge is the center of ranch entertainment.

The ranch lodge has a great swimming pool surrounded by Live Oaks.

Our new Pavillion provides shade for the BBQ and picnic area

The Lodge Pool Table encourages the hunter, hiker, or photographer to relax after a hard day 'in the field'.

A poker table is only the first step in creating the ambiance to go with a great poker game. It is a good way to keep the 'guys' busy while dinner is prepared on the BBQ.

Our lodge has attractive decor and true Texas ranch style

The Lodge

The guest Lodge's upstairs is called the Bunk House. It has it's own kitchen and is great for a real Texas family reunion or for a get-to-gether of a bunch of good buddies on a yearly hunting trip.

Enchanted Rock is the second largest granite rock in the United States and it is the northern ranch border. Great for hiking, rock climbing, & photography with unsurpassed view from the top.

These high vertical granite outcroppings represent the 'high country' on Comanche Rock Ranch and stand out in stark contrast to our verdant valleys.

It is on these steep rocky areas that one finds the elusive Aoudad and if this occurs it creates a lifetime memory.

These rocks are a challenge even for our sure-footed Aoudad, especially in the winter.

The ranch has a stark scenic beauty that is brought into sharp focus by the natural rise and fall of the landscape

The view from the highlands is intriguing and the height is great for game viewing.

Ranch views become greener and lush as we move downhill from the high country with it's thin topsoil.

Ranch views and plant life continue to change as we move downhill and when we reach the high valley floors we find that Post Oak, Live Oak and Black Jack Oak predominate.

Whitetail deer are the heart and soul of Comanche Rock Ranch and are seen daily as they roam throughout the hills and valleys of the ranch. It is here in the valley country, as well as the riparian river valleys, that one finds preferred Whitetail habitat. These game animals are the heart and soul of our game management program.

It is in these high valleys in most seasons that one finds the Axis deer from India such as this majestic buck.

Thickets of Live Oak, Mexican Persimmon, and Cedar Elm provide cover for game animals.

At the base of the highlands we find Lobo Creek which is a hunters and hikers delight.

The lower elevations of the ranch are found along Sandy Creek and rich riparian woodlands of mixed hardwoods and Live Oak motts border this water source.

Sandy Creek provides the all essential water source as well as a great place to look for arrowheads.

Granite dikes in the Sandy force water to the surface and help sustain the wildlife in times of drought.

These heavily wooded riparian areas team with all sorts of wild game and if you are observant and move quitely you are sure to see Rio Grand Turkey.

The riparian woodlands of our ranch provide great wildlife habitat and scenic beauty.

The ranch lowlands contains numerous open meadows filled with the occasional mesquite or majestic Post Oak.

Seasonally in these area we find Axis deer which are large beautiful deer from India that enliven our landscape.

In these open lowland meadows you might see a territorial blackbuck male driving off a bachelor buck and protecting his does.

Territorial Blackbuck male --- a beautiful Indian Antelope.

In the spring the ranch is covered with beautiful wildflowers that add interest to a hike or picnic.

A Lazy Daisy adds its beauty to the landscape. See our photo gallery of wildflowers.

Wildflowers attract butterfiles such as this Painted Lady and our abundant flowers and butterflies provide a wealth of interest for hobbyists since flower and butterfly identification and photography are great outdoor activities.

The ranch is blessed with free flowing springs throughout the year.

In times of drought thirsty birds and mammals congregate at ranch springs.

Stock tanks provide water across the ranch as well as a place to unwind with a bass plug.

The "wild areas" of the ranch are broken by several large food plots that supplement the wildlife diet.

We plant sorghum in our food plots for dove and turkey but primarily for dove and in the future to support our new quail renewal program.

The ranch wildlife's diet is supplemented by large "on demand" feeders.
