Ranch Information

Comanche Rock Ranch and the scenic roads of the Hill Country abound with wildflowers from March until late June. The wildflower bloom continues to some degree until the first frost throughout the ranch.

Bluebonnets and Indian Blankets add a beautiful accent to the granite boulders and Live Oaks.

We have enjoyed identifying the diversified plant life on our ranch and have included a comprehensive Plant List for those of you who enjoy learning more about Nature's bounty.

In addition to a diversified plant inventory, our ranch also has many beautiful butterflies. Their beauty and intriguing life cycles enrich life on our ranch and they also play a key role in flower fertilization. It is also true that having many different types of butterflies indicates that you have a widely diversified plant inventory for them to feed upon and is a marker of a healthy habitat. We have spent many pleasurable hours observing and identifying butterflies. For our friend's pleasure we have included a list of USGS Butterflies of Gillespie County and more interestingly a list of the Comanche Rock Ranch Butterfly List as well as a series of photographs..
